Behavioral Styles Profiles

There are hundreds of psychometric or personality assessment instruments on the market today.  Eagle's View Consulting has identified three that have been most effective with Clients. When we say "effective", we are referring to three paramount criteria:

1. Is the profile accurate?
2. Is the profile relatively easy to understand and apply?
3. Does our Client use it after our initial workshop and find it beneficial in their work?

The following instruments, briefly described, are the three best we've seen to date matched up against these criteria. Which one we use always depends upon our Client's intended outcomes.

The Insights Discovery Profile® and Software offer an impressive set of Self and Team Assessments. Based on the Psychological Type research of Swiss psychologist Carl Jung, the Insights Discovery Profile was developed in 1994 to be a practical application of Jungian Psychology in workplace and personal relationships. The instrument’s depth and accuracy is said to be unparalleled in the industry.  It is designed for individuals, workgroups, management teams, or entire organizations to help understand and improve communication and interpersonal dynamics within work groups as well as customers.

ICS-CONNECT

COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY:   Whether you are a leader of people, a sales professional, a customer service rep, a teacher, a parent, or you are simply engaged in a casual conversation, the goal is to keep yourself or the other person connected.  The purpose of ICS (Interpersonal Communication Styles) is to provide education in how to adapt and connect to people no matter what their preferred style might be.

ICS-CONNECT is solidly based on the works of the father of modern psychology Carl Gustav Jung.  Jung developed the very popular personality typology.

ICS-CONNECT is so unique in its concept of identifying how to keep others connected to a conversation Seasoned practitioners in the world of teaching communications are raving about the results. Entry level employees to senior staff members are praising the ICS-CONNECT program for the positive impact it is having on not only in communicating with clients but also the level of trust developed between employees.

Because of the way the ICS-CONNECT is scored, it doesn't type people and put them in a certain quadrant. Instead, it demonstrates and graphs all four Jungian Energies and the person's preferences for each energy.

ICS-CONNECT begins with the distinction between introversion and extraversion along with what Jung suggests are Four Basic Ways or Functions; Sensing, Thinking, Intuition, and Feeling.

We all have and use these functions.  We just have them in different proportions.

ICS-CONNECT can be used as a stand alone program to bring about a positive change in how people communicate.  It can also be easily integrated into established leadership, conflict management, coaching, and sales programs. An impressive set of team reports are available.

ICS-CONNECT Interest & Preference Indicator is also used in determining if someone is willing to stay connected to their work environment.  The IPI program uses the ICS-CONNECT Interest & Preference Indicator graph to measure where a person's interest and preference is the strongest within their current career path.

Anyone can achieve whatever career path they wish if their desire is strong enough.  What is important is to understand where their interest or preference lies within the selected career field.

ICS-CONNECT - Interest & Preference Indicator (IPI)

·  Measures the areas of interest the person will have within a career field.

·  Doesn't measure the person's ability to be successful in the chosen career field.

·  Measures the level of energy it takes to continue in a career and what the possibilities are of
the person leaving the job environment.

·  Compares interests to various occupations on all themes, indicating how their interest
patterns match individuals in specific functions.

What is the Birkman Method?

The Birkman Method® consists of a 298-question personality assessment and a series of related report sets that facilitate team building, executive coaching leadership development, career counseling and interpersonal conflict resolution. The Birkman Method combines motivational, behavioral and interest evaluation into one single assessment, which provides a multi-dimensional and comprehensive analysis, thus reducing the need for multiple assessments. The questionnaire is delivered on-line and should take about 45 minutes to complete. It has been translated into 11 languages in addition to English.

Delving Deeper

Through a combination of regression and factor analysis, The Birkman Method identifies the respondent's everyday interpersonal style (usual behavior), and unlike most other popular assessments, gives unique insights into underlying motivations and needs. Stress behaviors are identified when these needs are not met. Knowing the underlying motivations and the consequences of unmet needs give the coach, consultant, counselor and organizational development professional an effective way to improve workplace performance and reduce conflict.

In brief, The Birkman Method includes the five following major perspectives:

The Birkman Report Sets

The Birkman Method is delivered on-line. You can access a variety of different reports and have the flexibility to combine reports specific to your needs. These insightful reports are designed to be used by Birkman Certified Consultants and those that have received training in The Birkman Method.

The Coaching Report was introduced in 2006 and gives executive coaches and human resource professionals a powerful tool based on the analytic power of The Birkman Method. However, the Coaching Report does not require any special knowledge of the scales and measurements and is written in plain English. It can be used by coaches without any specific training and is easily understood by their players.
