While you’re reading the authors intend for you to develop
or polish your own Coaching Philosophy. Although this will happen quite
naturally for you, chapter 8 will give you some great tips to create Your
Coaching Philosophy, a vital tool for any coach to have.
You’ll learn the system by which all players rate their coaches. And Germaine and Jed will share with you the phenomenon they’ve discovered that they call the “value drift.” It’s a little-recognized and usually invisible force, always working against the coach—whether veteran or novice. Find out how to see it working in your player and how to use it to your advantage in chapter 9.
Chapter 13 gives you a tool unequaled in its facility to
gain access to what is immediately on your clients’ mind with regard to their
dreams and objectives–the DreamMakers & DreamBrakers Audit. What things are
propelling them to achieve their goals and what things are impeding them? Don’t
miss chapter 13!
"Calling on readers to
intentionally operate from a coaching stance, Coach
Anyone outlines an approach that ensures a positive result through creating
and sustaining a powerful coaching relationship.”
— Gail Hughes,
Vice President, Organization Capability, Chevy Chase Bank
The telephone has been around for over
a century, yet most of us don’t know some basic guidelines for how to use it
most effectively, especially in coaching situations. As a result it may seem
like an inappropriate coaching tool. Yet the telephone can be very effective and
save countless prime-time hours to invest elsewhere. See chapter 15 to find out
how you can be an effective coach by phone.
Coaching teams? Although nearly all of the coaching concepts presented here can be applied to teams, we have a special chapter with some unique tools to help you guide teams to success, chapter 14.
Need a fast way to get a handle on what your
player/client’s business is all about? See chapters 11 and 12. Chapter 11 offers
a list of incisive questions to gain the understanding you desire to effectively
coach your business client. Chapter 12 illustrates an interactive process to
enable you and your client to learn about her or his organization even more

To order Coach Anyone About Anything:
In this book you’ll find new terms or words used in ways that might be unfamiliar to you. They are defined them immediately. For instance, we call the person receiving your coaching “the player.” If you are coaching a sports team, then this certainly makes sense. And, it also makes sense when coaching a business team member or a client. He or she must participate and perform; thus he or she is a player.
